Abstract: According to latest statistics, breast and cervical cancer continue to be a major health concern for women in the United States today. Early detection through timely MGM and PAP screenings was found to reduce deaths from breast and cervical cancer. This study focuses on the disparities and barriers facing women in the state of California in regards to accessing MGM and PAP screening tests. Moreover, this study determines whether California meets Healthy People 2010 objectives in regards to the screenings. Our statistical analysis of CHIS (California Health Interview Survey) data indicates that 79.3% of women 40 years of age and above received MGM in the past 2 years, 96.1% of females age 18 years of age and older received PAP screening at least once in their lifetime, and 78.6% of women received PAP testing within the past 3 years.
